Advanced Open Water Certification, here we come!
23 10 2004Today is the day of our 2 required dives, deep and navigation. As i am typing this I am lying in a hammock after dinner on the porch of our cabina, with the most wonderful breeze coming off the water. The sounds of the surf and of the palm leaves make the most relaxing background noise.
The deep dive went off without a hitch, apparently at depth we were a tad slower on our dive table references, no doubt the effects of narcosis due to the depth which was over 80 ft. After our skills, we went for a swim up and over the reef and saw a neat little red spidery crab living inside a blue tube sponge. Then we came back up and did a 4 min safety stop before going to the surface. Navigation dive at Tarpon Channel was great fun swimming between the tall coral - 20 ft. tall cliffs of coral… almost maze-like. As we entered the maze there was a few huge grey angelfish - I got 1or 2 shots off. Meghan and I both navigated correctly back but they had moved the boat so we didn’t find it in the dame spot we had left it. Lobster lunch at elsa’s for 110 cordoba ea., sticker for Edguardo, crazy dogs, laid in the hammock right by the water. Dogs followed us to the leeward side where the dive shop is. Night dive we had planned on was cancelled due to motor problems. Dinner: king mackerel, potatoes & cabbage, very nice. Another hermit crab was hanging out at
our cabina when we got “home” after dinner.
