Amiga nueva

I have a new friend.  Her name is Tralia.  We met her and her family on the bus.  At first she was shy and only told me her name when asked.  However, after Steve took a family photo, she sat on my arm rest almost the entire way to Pucallpa.  We shared Skittles with her and her brother.  We talked about school (she is in 4th grade), family (she has 4 brothers and 4 sisters, one of whom they were on their way to visit in Pucallpa-he is 14 and works as a taxi driver), favorite colors, animals, etc.  She seemed very interested in my book The Princess Bride, so me, being the optimist, attempted to translate.  Ha!  I quickly realized how far away from that point I was, and instead told her the vey abridged version of the already abridged version of The Princess Bride.  It was fun!  And also exhausting to think so much in Spanish.  When I finished my story I fell asleep and awoke to see that Tralia had covered me with her jacket-she is so cute!  We ended up staying at the same hotel as they did, and Tralia was so excited she held my hand all the way there!

Hi Meghan and Steve!

These entries are great! Tralia sounds too cute — I’m sure there will be many more friends to meet along your travels but she sounds like the best first friend to make :-) I bet she will try and get her hands on a copy of the Princess Bride too!

Have fun floating down the amazon!!!!

Love,
Erin

Hey!!

Needless to say, I disgustingly jealous of the two of you being able to gad about and see so much, while I’m chained to the tissue culture hood … sigh …

Everything so far sounds amazing (would have loved to have heard the summary of the already summarised Princess Bride - how did you get on with the Sicilian’s challenge?!!!?). I’m sure you’ll continue to have a fabulous time and I’m looking forward to your next update already!

All is very quiet here - the weather is truly vile and the wind has a howl to it that goes straight to your bones. Very eerie. Sounds as though something is being tortured and living next to a graveyard with those kind of moans does not make for restful sleep!!

Take it easy, have lots of fun and don’t do anything I wouldn’t!!

Love to you both
N.xxx.

Hey you two!

Sounds like already you are going to have so many stories to tell and it has been barely a week! We will have to get you a publisher to get a book deal. hehe!

I am glad to hear you are doing well and staying safe. All is well here, besides the cold.

Just wanted to drop a note to say hey, and looking forward to hearing more!
Miss you!!

Always,
Nicole and Dan

Hey Meghan and Steve-

Looks like it’s only been a few days, but you guys are quickly making new experiences and acquaintances in Peru! Awesome, awesome. I’ll keep reading and slaving away at work for my chance of an extended trip in another year or so.

Cheers,
Stefan (and Sheryl)
